What to expect during a session?

Once I’ve received clearance from your dog’s vet, we can get your dog’s first appointment booked in.

So, what can you expect during the first session?

Step 1: I'll greet you and your dog, and we will discuss your concerns, your dog's history and what you hope to achieve whilst your dog is getting to know me.

Step 2: I'll carry out Postural and Gait Analysis to look for any areas of weakness and dysfunctional or compensatory movement patterns.

Step 3: I'll Assess Symmetry & Mobility by looking closely at your dog's atlas, pelvis and their lumbar mobility.

Step 4: I'll palpate the muscle to check for tension throughout the body.

Step 5: I'll work through your dog’s body treating any areas of tension and stretching as we work, and finish with some mobilisations.

Step 6: I'll prescribe some exercises and stretches for you to carry out at home, to improve any areas of weakness and tension, improve proprioception or aid recovery. At the end of the session, we'll discuss my findings and how we can look to reduce any future musculoskeletal pain by making small changes your to dog's day-to-day life.

Treatments are dog-led, so your dog is free to move away when they feel the need. It is important that your dog feels that they are able to communicate any discomfort and develop a trusting relationship with me so that I can work on areas of chronic pain and tension. If there are areas of chronic pain and tension, it may take a few sessions to actively treat these areas.
